Frequently Asked Questions
Feel free to Contact Us if you cannot find the information you need on this page.
What crops can you spray with drones?
We can spray a wide range of crops including sugarcane, sorghum, cotton, pasture, legumes, and horticultural crops. Drones are especially effective in wet, steep, or inaccessible areas.
What chemicals can be applied using drones?
We are licensed and equipped to apply herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, liquid fertilizers, and growth regulators, depending on label approvals. We always follow product and drone-specific regulations.
How much area can a drone cover per hour?
Our drones can spray up to 15 hectares per hour, depending on terrain, application rate, and flight conditions.
How accurate is drone spraying?
Our drones use RTK GPS and terrain-following radar, achieving spray accuracy within ±10 cm, ensuring targeted application and minimal wastage.
Is drone spraying cost-effective compared to ground rigs or planes?
Yes – especially in:
— Wet, muddy, or steep paddocks
— Small, isolated blocks
— Crops too sensitive for ground rig
— Areas with tight application windows
Drone spraying reduces compaction and drift, saving on chemical and labour costs.
Is ther a minimum or maximum area that you would treat?
No. We will look at all jobs, big or small. The smaller jobs will usually have minimum charges to cover costs whereas the larger jobs may be discounted.
What spreading tasks can you perform?
We offer granular spreading for:
— Urea and other fertilizers
— Pasture and cover crop seeding
— Mouse bait
— Snail and slug pellets
What mapping tasks can you perform?
We are able to produce large high resolution RGB maps using photogrammetry.
We can produce 3d maps using photogrammetry to measure stockpiles and cut and fill volumes.
We can produce multispectoral maps to monitor and assess plant health.
Can spreading or spraying be done at night?
Yes. We are holders of a ReOC and licenced to fly at night. Extra requirements need to be met for night flying and usually a daylight viewing of the job area is required.
Do you supply chemicals?
Generally no. Chemicals and spreadables are usually supplied by the customer and normally at the advice of an agronomist. We can try and source chemicals from local ag retailers if needed. We do not spray off-label. We carry a 300L chemical batch tank on our trailer to mix with water on demand.
What licenses do you hold?
We are CASA certified (ReOC holders), fully insured, and operate under all relevant chemical licensing and safety requirements in Queensland.
We hold a Pilot Chemical Rating Licence for Distribution by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.
We hold an AERONAUTICAL RADIO OPERATORS CERTIFICATE.
Our pilots hold Remote Pilot Licences and Type Ratings for drones we operate.
We also have NVLOS approval for night ops.
Do I need to be present during the job?
No, but we do recommend a quick paddock briefing beforehand. You can mark paddock boundaries with GPS, drone maps, in-person or you can supply us with a KML from Google Earth. We’ll handle the rest. You are welcome to observe.
What info do I need to provide to get a quote or book a job?
— Job type (Spraying, Spreading, Mapping, Spot Spraying, etc).
— Paddock(s) size and location (A KML from Google Earth is good).
— Chemicals/Spreadables to be used and the application rates required.
— Any date/time restrictions.
— Any hazards within the job area (Power lines, Trees, etc).
— Access to water (we can carry 2000L but prefer to fill up on site to minimize transport costs).
— Is clear access to paddock(s) available.
